Encountered this exceptional new video today.
A song from I/O by Peter Gabriel- one of my lifelong musical companions.
I tend to prefer the Dark-Side mixes on I/O with a couple exceptions.
We poets remix and mix our own images and words so often in new ways and explore the same pieces in different ways.
Typos, Freudian slips, snippets of overheard things, we are archivists and explorers piecing patchworks.
Poetry is often lyrical, and most music is a form of poetry, even music without words. We suffer from too many mediocre poems in mainstream pop music.
This video took my breath away. The song always does. The planet within ourselves of memory, we are all residents of our own inner worlds, a recurring theme in PG’s work, but as he grows older, his lyrics reflect the secret worlds within us so much more. We carry universes, multitudes, and heavy burdens within us.
The words, the images- transcendent.
Enjoy, but if you find a tear escaping, here’s a tissue and kind embrace from me.
